In a country with a population of 140 billion, delivering healthcare services to remote areas has always presented a significant challenge. Approximately 72% of our population resides in rural regions, where access to healthcare infrastructure is limited to just 25%. Conversely, urban slum residents are primarily migrants grappling with substantial livelihood challenges, with health being a low priority for them.
Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti has developed a comprehensive and community-oriented healthcare program that extends primary healthcare services to underserved communities in both rural and urban parts of India. This program follows a dual-pronged approach, offering both curative and preventive healthcare services, effectively bridging the gaps in healthcare availability, accessibility, and affordability, all provided at no cost to the community.
• Bringing essential healthcare services to underserved populations via well-equipped Mobile Healthcare Units staffed with medical professionals and support staff, offering outpatient services, on-the-spot diagnostic tests, and medication distribution.
• Facilitating the connection of individuals residing in distant rural regions with doctors at nearby urban healthcare centers for specialized medical care.
• Establishing accessible healthcare facilities in isolated rural areas that offer outpatient services, medication, point-of-care testing, and counseling, with a particular emphasis on providing physiotherapy services.
• Delivering essential healthcare services tailored to specific demographic groups via standalone health clinics staffed by specialized physicians, offering on-the-spot diagnostic tests, and occasionally providing surgical capabilities as required.
The significance of NGOs in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be overlooked. The devastating effects of the pandemic have exacerbated the hardships faced by marginalized populations in India and globally. The rapid loss of human lives and the severe disruption of economic activities have occurred as a direct result of the COVID-19 outbreak. NITI Aayog reached out to more than 90,000 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic, and Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti was among those contacted. Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti organized numerous local initiatives aimed at aiding communities during the Covid-19 pandemic, these efforts were motivated by the compassionate deeds of social welfare.
• Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti coordinated the efforts of all volunteers and provided assistance in different areas throughout New Delhi. Among its diverse initiatives, the organization distributed food and essential supplies to more than 10,000 families, as well as distributed food packets to over 50,000 individuals.
• Our organization established more than 20 medical camps along the New Delhi and Haryana border to assist migrants. Furthermore, we established over 50 assistance centres at bus and railway stations to facilitate the safe return of migrants to their hometowns.
• The non-governmental organization, operating from improvised facilities in Gurgaon, supplied oxygen using vehicles. Additionally, we established a centre with 100 medical beds, a fleet of ambulances, and delivered food to families impacted by the virus.
On National Dentist Day, Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti (SNSSS) took initiative towards a free dental medical camp in the slums of North West Delhi, providing essential oral healthcare services to the underserved community. With a team of dedicated healthcare professionals and volunteers, the camp offered dental check-ups, treatments, and oral hygiene education to residents who otherwise lack access to such services. The initiative aimed not only to address immediate dental health needs but also to promote long-term oral wellness among the community members. Through this compassionate effort, SNSSS demonstrated its commitment to improving health outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for those in need in the slums of North West Delhi.
