Livelihoods

More than a third of India’s population consists of young people, and they form a significant portion of the nation’s workforce. India, with its substantial youth population, has the potential to harness greater advantages from its demographic advantage if its young people are equipped with improved skills and employability. It is essential to guide and direct the potential of disadvantaged youth effectively to contribute to economic growth and the development of the nation. Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti, through its Livelihood program, links unemployed or underemployed young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and communities with industries that have significant potential for revenue generation and job opportunities. This program targets the substantial youth population currently underutilized in the job market due to a lack of necessary qualifications and training. It seeks to enhance their skills, elevate their status, and integrate them into the nation’s progress. The Livelihood program is designed to support and align with the government’s Skill India initiative while also aligning with Sustainable Development goals.

Name: Brijesh Kumar │ Electronics and Hardware training
Last year I have completed B.COM from SOL, New Delhi. I belong to a family of four, with both my parents employed in the private sector, while my younger sister is pursuing her education in school. Following my senior secondary school, I embarked on the journey of preparing for engineering entrance exams but due to the financial constraint I was implored to do a part time work, that was the main reason I choose Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti to lean a skill-oriented course and I opted for the Electronics & Hardware program because of its promising prospects in the future.

I underwent training in Electronics & Hardware through the Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti’s livelihood program and subsequently working as a freelance electrician.

Name: Jyoti │Computer Training
Poverty has been a constant presence throughout my life, but my parents never let it hinder my education. Financial constraints never disrupted my schooling, and now, my life has come full circle. I find myself working as a teacher at an NGO, actively contributing to the future of the next generation. Teaching brings me immense satisfaction as it enables me to have a positive impact on these children’s lives. Looking ahead, my goal is to educate more underprivileged children and provide them with opportunities for a brighter future.

Jyoti successfully completed the computer training program offered by Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti. She is currently employed as a Computer Teacher at a private school.

Name: Rajesh Jha │Electronics & Hardware Training
In my community, many parents express concerns about their children’s education due to our constant struggle to make ends meet. This is why I couldn’t pursue further education after completing senior secondary school.

My father works as a tailor, but the pandemic has disrupted his income for the past two years. He has always faced difficulties in covering rent, school fees, and other expenses for my siblings and me. Receiving my first paycheck gives me hope that a positive change is on the horizon. My parents have provided us with unwavering support through life’s challenges, and now that I am financially independent, I want to offer them a sense of financial security.

Rajesh Jha was trained on Electronics & Hardware under Sai Nath Shiksha Sewa Samiti’s livelihood Learning Programme. He now owns an electricity shop in the Sultanpuri, Delhi.
